The Fall Holy Days (Yeshua's Second Coming)
The Fall Holy Days (Yeshua's Second Coming)
Now we've gone through the Spring Holy Days, we're ready for the fall! As the title suggests, those of us who have Messiah know that the fall Holy Days represent the second coming of Yeshua and much like He didn't miss a mark with the spring feasts, I'd bet He will not with the fall feasts either. HalleluYah!
The Feast of Trumpets
This day, Yom Teruah, is actually called the Day of Trumpets or Shouting. We've come to call it the Feast of Trumpets. For those who have read my About page, you know this Holy Day has a special place in my heart since it was the very first one I tried to celebrate. This day is often referred to as "Rosh Hashanah" by the world and Judaism. It is recognized as the Jewish New Year. This is not Biblical. Biblically speaking, Yahweh's new year begins in the spring. This Holy Day is one that is not provided with an answer in the Bible as to why we are doing it and thus, this is probably why Judaism does this.. to try and explain it. Having Messiah, we know that we blow the shofar (trumpet) to sound the arrival of our coming King! We shout with joy as the world shouts in terror at His arrival! Thus, why YHWH has us sounding the shofar and shouting on this day.
Plainly put, this day represents the day Yeshua returns as the conquering King.
As with any and all Holy Days, I refuse to tell you how to celebrate it. I can only tell you how my family celebrates it. And for Trumpets, my children and I like to sound the shofar. My family has a sit down dinner and since the day is a High Sabbath, we do not work.
The sounding of the shofar is supposed to be a wake up call to repentance to let the world know that coming up is:
Yom Kippur, The Day of Atonement
On this day, historically the High Priest would make atonement for all of Israel. Two goats were used for this. One was sacrificed, the other had "the sins of the people placed on it's head" and it was sent out into the wilderness. This is the scapegoat. This day was recognized as the highest Holy Day and it is a High Sabbath. Sorry for not giving detailed explanations but as I mentioned in the previous article regarding the Spring Feasts, this information is all contained in your Bible and you should already be reading and studying it.
Now, obviously, our High Priest, Yeshua, has made atonement for us so we do not have to have our sins placed on goats. However, we do keep this day Holy and "afflict" ourselves on this day as the Bible says. I take this as an act of obedience to YHWH and showing Him that we are willing to suffer for His Word. Most participants fast on this day from food and water as a means to "afflict" themselves.
Prophetically this day represents Yeshua's judgment on the adversary. When the enemy is bound for a thousand years of peace it is shown to us in the Feast of Tabernacles, which we will discuss next.
My family keeps Yom Kippur by fasting from food and water. By spending the day studying the Word, praying, and meditating on it.
Next is everyone's favorite Holy Day, Sukkot or the Feast of Tabernacles!
Sukkot, the Feast of Tabernacles, or the Feast of Booths lasts for eight days with the first day and last day being High Sabbath days. Historically speaking this day is to remind us of the time when our people came out of Egypt and had to dwell in "booths" or temporary tents. It also coincides with the fall harvest or the final harvest. The Bible says for us to dwell in temporary dwellings during this feast... most people use this opportunity to camp with groups of fellow believers.
This Festival represents Yeshua's "millennial reign" or the thousand years of peace He tabernacles with us to teach us Torah from New Jerusalem. The last day is often called the "Eighth Great Day" or the "Last Great Day", this day prophetically points to all things being made new after the thousand years of peace.
How does my family celebrate? We.. okay, maybe more so I.. look forward to this every year. Obviously we camp! We also make and enjoy wonderful meals during this time. We do not work on the High Sabbath days, but we usually take off from our jobs during the entire Feast. All His Holy Days are great but this one is really easy to get excited about... not just because of the fun we have with it while on Earth but because it's awesome to think about what it represents as well: Living in our Messiah's Kingdom on Earth! Learning Torah from our High Priest!
If you read the Spring Holy Days and this article both, this is a brief overview of all of YHWH's Holy Days... no doubt for final authority you should consult Yahweh's Word. Beware of the man-made traditions that attempt to void His Commandments and add burdens to His AWESOME Holy Days! Most importantly, enjoy them. Look ahead to what they point to. Look back at what they memorialize. Thank Yah for giving them to us so we do not have to walk blindly but know His plan for salvation from the beginning to the end.
Keep this in mind to those who are new to this... I know firsthand it can feel strange at first. Learning new things and breaking old bad habits will do that. It's not what you do, but that you are doing it and every year you will grow from it. None of us do this perfectly.. the importance lies in the fact that we try! It brings glory to YHWH that you are trying to please Him and be thankful that He has chosen to wake you up to His truths in these last days. All glory to Him and His only Son, Yeshua!
